Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Cemetery Caretaker to help maintain the grounds, facilities, and overall appearance of our cemetery. The ideal candidate takes pride in outdoor work, is respectful and professional around families and visitors, and can work independently while maintaining high standards of care. Please note this is a YEAR-ROUND position.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cemetery grounds, including mowing, trimming, edging, landscaping, and general cleanup.
• Care for lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, and other landscaping.
• Maintain gravesites, monuments, walkways, roads, and common areas.
• Assist with preparing gravesites for burials and closing graves after services.
• Operate and maintain lawn-care and grounds-maintenance equipment.
• Keep cemetery buildings, equipment, and work areas clean and orderly.
• Assist with setting up and maintaining areas for funeral and memorial services.
• Provide courteous and respectful assistance to visitors and families when needed.

Follow cemetery policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.

• Report maintenance issues, damaged monuments, unsafe conditions, or other concerns to management.
• Perform other groundskeeping and cemetery-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, cemetery maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to operate basic landscaping and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift, carry, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean and well-kept property.
• Professional and compassionate demeanor when interacting with grieving families and the public.
• Valid driver's license preferred or required depending on job duties.

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Monday–Friday schedule, with occasional weekends, holidays, or extended hours as needed for services and cemetery operations.
