Mission and Philosophy of Hillcrest Kids Early Learning
Hillcrest Kids Early Learning is an outreach ministry called by God to serve and care for children ages one year through fifth grade and their families within Whatcom and Skagit counties. It is our purpose to foster the growth and development of the whole child - spiritual, cognitive, physical, emotional and social in an atmosphere of God's great love. We will provide a variety of experiences for children that will arouse their curiosity to learn more about themselves, others, the world around them and the God of heaven and earth who loves them.
Position Overview
We are hiring for a part time closing Lead Teacher in our PreK age group. The shift would be 145p-545p, Monday - Friday . The position begins Tuesday September 8th. On-site training and all requirements must be completed before September 8th.
The primary role of the Lead Teacher is to implement quality early childhood education, in accordance with Hillcrest Kids philosophy, in a safe, clean and loving environment for 4 - 5 year olds. The Lead Teacher is directly responsible to the Program Coordinator and Assistant Director. Lead Teachers at Hillcrest Kids are passionate about helping children know their full potential, working as a team and striving for unity and sharing the love of Jesus with kids and families.
*PLEASE NOTE: This is a shared classroom position. The morning lead teacher will be responsible for lesson planning, student evaluations and portfolios. You will be taking over the class when the morning teacher ends their shift. This role will require working as a team with the morning teacher to create a cohesive and welcoming classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide constant visual and auditory supervision of children, ages 4 - 5, in the group.
- Plan, write and implement daily activities to develop safe and healthy habits for the children assigned to the group. These plans must meet the standards put in place by Early Achievers and our curriculum of choice - the Creative Curriculum.
- Assess each child and provide developmentally appropriate group and individual activities. Maintain State education requirements in MERIT.
- Create a pleasant, inviting classroom atmosphere in which children feel safe and secure.
- Ensure that childcare routines such as toileting and hand washing are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with good child development principles.
- Create a welcoming environment that promotes positive communication with parents and families.
- Be aware of allergy and medical needs of the children in your group.
- Be up to par on standards set forth by State licensing, Early Achievers and Creative Curriculum with the desire to meet and exceed them.
- We believe a proper concept of God is vital in everyone's development. Therefore, as a staff member of Hillcrest Kids, you will be expected to celebrate Christmas and Easter through a variety of activities with your children, teaching them the foundational Christian truths surrounding these holidays.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- Minimum of 1 year of professional child care experience.
- Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Degree in ECE strongly preferred or; must be willing to obtain a certificate in Early Childhood Education within 5 years of hire date.
- A strong understanding of early childhood development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- **Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. ( Can be obtained once hired)
- HIV/AIDS and bloodborne pathogen certification. (Can be obtained once hired)
- Proof of MMR vaccine.
- **Negative TB test result. (Can be obtained once hired)
- **Food Handlers Card. (Can be obtained once hired)
- Photo ID.
- **Must clear full DCYF background check, may include fingerprints. (Can be obtained once hired but MUST be completed before work can begin.)
- **4 DCYF online certifications, FREE! ( Can be completed once hired and must be completed within 30 days of hire.)
- **30 Hour Childcare Basics online class. ( Can be completed once hired and must be completed within 90 days of hire.)
** These items are required and do have an initial cost that is at the expense of the employee. Reimbursement is available for full time staff after 6 months of employment.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift approx.. 35 lbs. or more.
- Get down and up from floor with ease.
Pay: $19.50 - $20.50 per hour
