Position Open: Facilities Manager

Hill View Montessori Charter Public School, is a tuition-free public Montessori school serving 306 students in grades K-8 located in historic Haverhill, Massachusetts. We are hiring a Facilities Manager. This is a salaried, full-time position, with benefits.

Salary Range $50,778 - $64,736

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform basic maintenance tasks required (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting etc.) to maintain the school building, grounds and utilities in operational status
• Respond and provide timely assistance for emergency system failures (water leak, power outage, clogged toilet, no heat, etc.) by repairing/minimizing damage/threat to property/personnel & student safety until problem is repaired/resolved
• Identify, schedule, and ensure completion of larger maintenance projects such as re-painting walls, cleaning classroom carpets, tree trimming, etc.
• Order and maintain supplies for all maintenance and cleaning needs
• Ensure sidewalks are clear of snow, ice and other debris that could otherwise create a hazard
• Perform all preventative maintenance work or coordinate with any necessary vendors to perform preventive maintenance work
• Perform basic custodian functions such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming as required/needed
• Schedule and assist with cleaning during shut down periods as required/needed
• Respond to requests of faculty and staff to provide assistance for moving equipment or furniture
• Set up and take down furniture and equipment for special events
• Create and maintain relationships with necessary vendors
• Coordinate any necessary building system inspection (fire alarm system, elevator, school kitchen, etc.)
• Perform other duties related to building and systems maintenance as assigned
• Work during occasional evening /weekend functions to assure that any facility needs are met
• Create a cleaning schedule for custodian(s)
• Supervise the custodian or cleaning crew to ensure scheduled duties are completed
• Respond to emergency situations at the school on a 24/7 basis
• Work with minimal supervision

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 5 years proven experience in facilities, grounds, or building maintenance
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of facilities management
• Ability to handle unforeseen challenges and multiple priorities
• Proactive problem solver who demonstrates initiative and passion for work
• Strong work ethic, including a demonstrated ability to establish timelines and meet deadlines
• Able to work inside and outside throughout the year; move heavy objects as necessary; climb ladders; stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl as needed
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer skills including email
• Approved CORI and FBI fingerprint background checks
• Flexibility, warmth, and a sense of humor!
