Senior Property Accountant
Location: Denver, CO 80222
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm
Salary Range: $73,000 to $88,000 based off experience level
We are seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join our growing multifamily owner-operator platform. This role will be responsible for full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of multifamily properties and will work closely with operations, asset management, and corporate accounting teams. The Senior Property Accountant will report directly to the CFO of Property Management and play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of multifamily properties, including monthly close, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual property financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Review property-level income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports; analyze variances and assist management with explanations
- Coordinate closely with property management teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition, expense coding, and timely month-end close
- Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activity for assigned properties
- Support annual audits, lender reporting, and other external reporting requirements
- Assist with budget preparation, forecasts, and reforecasts in collaboration with property management and asset management
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and system efficiencies
- Maintain thorough documentation and ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5 years of property accounting experience, preferably within multifamily real estate
- Strong understanding of GAAP and property-level financial reporting
- Experience working in a multi-entity, owner-operator environment preferred
- Proficiency with property management and accounting systems (Entrata experience is a plus)
- High attention to detail, with strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments
