What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Specialist position at Hill Resources Inc?
Job Duties
- Assist Individuals with objectives as directed by QIDP/Program Manager. Hands on training per calendar. Training and documentation days are scheduled.
- Develop/Assist with activities important to the Individual and/or in the ISP/IP. Involve Individuals with activities, exercise, and all aspects of daily living. Allow the Individuals to do as much for themselves as possible but ensure the task is complete. Staff may have to follow up and complete tasks that are not complete.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment. Follow the home maintenance schedule for your shift. Includes sweeping, mopping, meal cleanup, laundry, assisting Individuals in keeping their living areas clean.
- Completes daily/weekly/monthly documentation records per ISP/IP in TMP. See calendar for documentation schedules.
- Transport Individuals as needed. May include transporting to Day Habs, work, leisure activities, appointments, shopping.
- Adhere to policy and procedures as listed in handbook. The employee Handbook is available on TaskMasterPro by clicking Policy and Procedure in the left column, then selecting Employee handbook from the list.
- Display professional attitude at all times. When you are hired and filing out the hire packet, you will read and sign a document titled Company Philosophy.
- Request help or directive with Individuals as needed.
- Report/communicate any questions or concerns with Supervisor. You can contact your immediate supervisor or Admin Personnel via the message center in TMP as the first line of communication. Texts and phone calls need to be minimal if not an emergency.
- Monitor Individuals with self medication program to ensure safety and to prevention errors. Staff will be taught the proper procedure for a medication pass and be delegated to administer/assist with meds when they and their RN are confident the staff person is able to pass meds sufficiently.
- Attend all Inservice training meetings. Some in-services will be sent to the homes for review, some will be in person at a designated location, some will be assigned as a training item.
- Follow reporting procedures regarding incidents/accidents and abuse/neglect/exploitation allegations. Staff will be knowledgeable of the reporting procedures and criteria when hired.
- Follow Emergency/Fire/Disaster procedures. Each Individual has an emergency Plan included in their Client Profile which is easily accessed in TMP by clicking on Client Profile in the right column.

- High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
- Valid Drivers License (Preferred)
