The goal of the Crisis Counseling Program is to assist individuals, families, and communities in recovering from the challenging effects of the catastrophic flooding of the Guadalupe River occurring in the early-morning hours of July 4, 2025. The Crisis Counseling Program Team Lead is responsible for leading a team of crisis counseling outreach specialists and a community liaison in the field to provide outreach and support to the community. This position must ensure all appropriate areas are provided with effective outreach, education, support, and that communities have information on accessible behavioral health services. The Team Lead is responsible for working with local officials and coordinating other relief efforts within the community to ensure outreach specialists are available at events, activities, and determining where additional outreach efforts are needed. This is a federally funded grant position that is temporary and is expected to be funded for a minimum of 6 months, but may be extended depending on funding and need.

You will get to:

- Leads a team of crisis counselors in the field during non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings - Will assess people to determine appropriate behavioral health treatment needs

- Trains, debriefs, and provides supervision to the assigned team

- Reviews data to conduct ongoing needs assessment

- Coordinates data tracking, trains on data tracking, and reviews data forms for accuracy

- Works closely with the Program Manager and Data Specialist to analyze data, collect provider and participant surveys, and compile the report data

- Provides feedback to the Crisis Counseling Program Director and leadership to improve program services and close gaps

- Submits accurate data to state and federal partners in accordance with CCP RSP contract

- May perform crisis counseling as needed

You'll definitely need:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, sociology, behavioral or human services, or a related degree.
  • A valid Texas State Driver's License.
  • Current automobile insurance and the ability to travel to individuals when necessary.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.
  • Live within 30 miles of the clinic with reliable transportation

We'll also want you to:

- Leads a team to deliver service in the communities rather than wait for survivors to seek assistance

- Leads a team to conduct service in non-traditional settings-make contact in shelters, homes, communities, not in clinical or office settings

- Leads a team to reach large numbers of people affected by disasters through face-to-face outreach

- Represents the Crisis Counseling Program in the community and networks with other agencies and partners to ensure the needs of survivors are met

- Submits documentation and data timely, accurately by utilizing the appropriate process/method

- Complete FEMA CCP Trainings
