Job Title: Assistant Accounting Manager

Schedule: Full Time, Monday – Friday, variable hours
Reports to: Accounting Manager
Position Summary
The Assistant Accounting Manager supports the daily operations of the finance department with a strong focus on grant accounting and compliance. This position assists with accounting functions, preparing reports, monitoring grant budgets, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, county, and private funding requirements.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This individual should have a strong understanding of general ledger accounting and experience working in nonprofit and grant-funded accounting environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Support daily accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, A/P, payroll coordination, cash management, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records
- Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures
- Monitor balance sheet accounts to ensure timely reconciliations.
- Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation for internal and external audits
- Other duties as assigned
Grant Management & Compliance
- Monitor grant budgets and expenditures to ensure compliance with funding requirements
- Track grant revenue, restricted funds, and allowable expenses
- Prepare grant reimbursement requests, invoices, and financial reports
- Assist program managers with budget tracking and grant-related financial questions
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and private grant regulations
- Maintain grant documentation and reporting schedules
- Assist with grant budget development and amendments
- Monitor grant reporting deadlines for grant reporting and assist with timely submissions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and at least five years of general ledger and grant accounting experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practices and procedures.
- Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting systems preferred, along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive financial and organizational information.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with nonprofit and grant accounting strongly preferred
- Healthcare or nonprofit finance strongly experience
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds

- Professional office environment with occasional interruptions and competing priorities
Salary : $70,720 - $85,500
