Position Summary
The Remote Scribe will work with healthcare providers via a secure virtual platform to document patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR). This role is critical in enhancing provider efficiency, reducing documentation burden, and improving patient care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately document patient encounters in the EHR.
- Record details of the patient visit including history, physical examination, assessment, and care plan.
- Track and enter laboratory and imaging results as directed by the provider.
- Review charts for completeness and accuracy and assist with ensuring timely documentation compliance.
- Collaborate closely with assigned providers to maintain high-quality, patient-centered documentation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines at all times.
- Participate in scribe training and clinic orientation sessions as required.
- Support provider efficiency by pre-populating notes and ensuring encounter forms are up-to-date.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior experience as a medical scribe or transcriptionist strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Familiarity with EHR systems; experience with Athena Practice preferred.
- Ability to type 60 words per minute with high accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable internet connection and private work environment to ensure patient confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an FQHC or community health center setting.
- Familiarity with California-specific documentation or billing requirements (e.g., Medi-Cal).
- Bilingual in Spanish, Hmong, or other languages commonly served by the clinic.
