Job Description: Instructor, Learning Frameworks/College Readiness

Department: Student Learning and Success                                                                                                                                                    Pay Classification: Faculty

Reports To: Dean of Arts and Humanities                                                                                                                                                        FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary: Responsible for the success of the total teaching and learning process within the assigned classroom or other learning environment. Will be required to teach Learning Frameworks (EDUC 1100/PSYC 1100) courses and prepare students enrolled in dual credit with college readiness skills at multiple dual credit locations per day. Faculty will be expected to work at Hill College sites and four dual credit ISD locations every semester.

Minimum Required

Education:                                      Master's degree with 18 hours of graduate-level credit within the instructional area (EDUC or PSYC) being taught or a combination of education and experience that yields the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Experience:                                     Preferred: Experience teaching in higher education within the instructional area being taught.

Required Knowledge:                   Must possess the ability to focus on details, ensuring that every aspect of lesson planning, assessment, and student engagement is conducted with precision. This attention to detail helps create an effective and organized learning environment, minimizing errors and enhancing student outcomes

                                                          Ability to communicate orally and in writing. 

                                                          Ability to interact with all levels of the organization. 

                                                          Instructors must demonstrate proficiency in operating computers, standard office equipment, and various instructional technologies. This includes a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook, as well as Learning Management Systems (LMS) and distance learning tools. 

                                                          Must demonstrate the capacity to set priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. 

                                                          Capable of working independently and must also thrive in team settings. 

                                                          Ability to think critically and apply appropriate problem-solving skills.

                                                          Ability to articulate and support the values and Code of Conduct of Hill College. Ability to interpret and abide by the policies and procedures of Hill College. 

                                                          Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information. 

                                                          Must exhibit excellent customer service skills, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for students and colleagues alike. 

                                                          Demonstrating initiative in continuous learning, instructors should actively seek new concepts, skills, and experiences to enhance their teaching practice and stay current with educational trends and technologies. 

                                                          Strong organization and time management are critical to balancing instructional duties, administrative responsibilities, and professional commitments. 

                                                          Must possess a working knowledge of the guidelines of the state agency/ accrediting agency for departments with regulation from outside agencies.

                                                          Working knowledge of all regulations in adherence to required licenses and certifications. 

                                                          Instruct students and families on college expectations and competencies. 

                                                          Develop and instruct TSI learning modules for Math and English/Reading. 

                                                          Create relationships with ISO faculty, administration, and the community. 

                                                          Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established College policies, FERPA guidelines and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and education. 

                                                          Working knowledge of the Hill College vision and mission.

Collaboration:                                Participates as a faculty representative at convocations, commencement, and honors day assemblies; works individually and collaboratively with others to recruit and retain students.

Other Information:                      Security sensitive position. 

                                                         Travel for recruiting and student activities as necessary 

                                                         Texas driver's license required.

 

Physical Requirements:               Light work; exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work.
