What are the responsibilities and job description for the Test Lab Technician position at Hilite International?
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
Perform the necessary duties within the specific area of expertise while working in conjunction with other engine testing technicians to complete the overall scope of the Engine Test department. This role is responsible for engine testing and reporting results in an accurate and timely manner, while upholding the highest standards of Accountability and Integrity in all reporting and procedures. Collaboration is essential, as the position requires effective communication and teamwork with fellow technicians, other departments within Hilite International, and third-party partners. A mindset of Innovation is also key, as the role supports continuous improvement and development in testing processes and departmental contributions.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. Years of experience are taken into consideration of wages; preferred experience is 3 years of experience and/or an Associate's Degree. Ability to read technical manuals, accurately record data, and effectively present imformation. Expertise in mathematics and computer skills preferred. Individuals will need to have the ability to effectively define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions/results and the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrams is required.
PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Works closely with: Test Engineers, Test Engineering Manager, Test Technicians, R&D Technical Services Manager, and all other Hilite International employees.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Consult with engineers and other test technicians to understand and correctly instrument test specimens for the measurement of pressure, temperature, torque, etc.
- Works with data acquisition (DAq) hardware including PLC’s to sustain and improve the test labs functions.
- Calibrate department hardware as necessary, working with 3P vendors as needed.
- Maintain calibration records with GageTrack database.
- Perform electrical and electronic repairs as needed as well as implement project and improvements within the department.
- Proficient with multi-meter and oscilloscope.
- Lockout tag-out and arc flash trained.
- Maintain awareness of and meet the requirements of the Company Quality and Environmental Systems.
- Required to observe all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around the work area(s).
- Complies with Company policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
- Train and aid cross functional disciplines as time permits.
- All other duties as assigned.
