JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Campus Safety Officer
Reports to: Director of Campus Safety
Department: Campus Safety
Employment Type: *Contracted Employment*
If hired, will be employed by Allied Universal and assigned to
the Hilbert College Site as contract employee.
Job Summary
A Campus Safety Officer ensures the overall safety of students, faculty and staff, the general public and properties of the institution.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Patrol buildings and grounds on a regular basis.
• Escort students when requested.
• Provide access control to campus facilities.
• Respond to first aid, emergency, and incident calls; assist with vehicle lockouts and jumpstarts.
• Report violations of Federal, State, local, and campus policies and regulations.
• Provide event security when necessary.
• Assist local agencies, police, emergency, and fire, that are responding to campus emergencies when it is possible to do so.
• Provide information assistance.
• Provide traffic control and parking enforcement.
• Take mechanical equipment readings and monitor sensitive equipment and multiple security cameras.
• Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
• Basic computer skills.
• Flexibility: able to work other shifts including weekends as needed.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Must be able to complete an 8-hour Pre-Assignment and 16-hour NYS Security Guard training requirements. Training will be provided by Allied Universal
• Ability to complete on-the-job training.
• Good physical condition to be able to act in accordance with NY PL Article 35 as it relates to justifiable use of physical force.
Minimum Qualifications
• Must be qualified to be able to obtain a NYS Security Guard Card License. As employer, Allied Universal will provide all assistance to help obtain license if NY State qualifications are met.
• 1 year of experience in security or equivalent preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver license.
