The Hilb Group is currently seeking a motivated and ambitious Employee Benefits Compliance Lead to join our team. This position will report to our agency located in Cranston, RI or Shelton, CT. The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed, is well organized, able to prioritize, and able to work well with a team. This is a hybrid position.
Responsibilities:
Stay well informed on the compliance challenges our clients are dealing with both on a federal level and state level
Conduct client compliance audits and take lead on meetings with client to discuss results of audit
Provide staff training on compliance topics including plan documents, 5500 filings, ACA reporting, and other IRS/DOL filings
Provide ongoing training and support to Client Service teams on compliance related topics including assisting with client communications, document revisions, and legal and regulatory changes
Attend client and prospect meetings with EB consultants and producers
Support the compliance leader in developing or modifying existing resources and/or deliverables regarding EB compliance requirements
Support Account Management team in strategizing to resolve any areas of client non-compliance, including new client onboarding audits and annual review audits
Lead discussions with clients related to SPDs and wrap documents, review current documents and, when applicable, facilitate preparation of new documents for clients
Respond to substantive compliance-related client questions and requests on topics ranging from ERISA, ACA, CAA, and COBRA to cafeteria plans and benefit taxation questions.
Qualifications:
College degree required
JD preferred, but not required
Five (5) or more years’ experience in Employee Benefits compliance, ideally in a brokerage or consulting setting
Demonstrated understanding of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, and other relevant laws and regulations
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Strong presentation skills.
Ability to interpret and clearly communicate complex laws to team members and clients in a way that is easily understood
Ability to consult clients on complex compliance issues
High level of organizational ability
Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment
High degree of self-discipline and motivation
Professional demeanor
Ability to function a true team-oriented environment
Ability to fulfill all job requirements as outlined above, during, and outside of usual business hours, and to do normal travel to carry out sales/servicing responsibilities
