What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hostler/Jockey position at Hiland Dairy Foods?
The Hostler/Jockey shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Identifying and moving trailers from parking spaces in the trailer yard to doors for loading, then moving trailers back to parking spaces in preparation for transport.
Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs
Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes
Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area
Perform other duties as assigned
Ability to multi-task - checking fuel levels of vehicles, monitoring trailer temperatures, listening to radio for needed trailer moves
Keeping track of needed trailer moves when multiple moves are called out at the same time
Basic math knowledge
Basic knowledge of hand tools
Responsibility - continuously monitoring refer units for proper operational temperatures
Ability to work as a team member with other jockey on duty
Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions
Coachable and willing to learn
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work without direct supervision.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
At least one year Hostler/Jockey experience
Class A CDL required
