The Role

As an Ingalls Joiner, you’ll help create the interior spaces that make our nation’s most advanced ships functional, efficient, and mission‑ready. From bulkheads to cabinetry, your craftsmanship shapes the living quarters, workspaces, and specialized compartments throughout the vessel.

What You Can Earn

  • Earn up to $35.99 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
  • Opportunities for overtime and long‑term career progression.

What You’ll Do

  • Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair a wide range of shipboard components, including:

– Bulkheads

– Wood and metal articles

– Interior finishes

– Cabin accessories

– Wood and metal deck structures

  • Install and properly mount interior outfitting items such as:

– Furniture

– Racks and bins

– Partition bulkheads

– Decorative ceilings

– False decks

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to complete work accurately and efficiently.
  • Work in active shipyard environments that may involve heights, confined spaces, and varying conditions.
  • Follow all safety procedures that meet — and often exceed — industry standards.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience in carpentry, metal fabrication, or marine interior installation
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
  • Precision craftsmanship and attention to detail
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, and high‑quality work

Must Have

Minimum of 3 years experience as a Joiner or related craft experience in shipfitting, carpentry or sheetmetal and be able to pass the Tacker Certification test.

Nice to Have

High School diploma or equivalent, Master Tech Certification
