The Role
Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. May develop stored procedures and/or triggers.
This position is intended for the Software Configuration Management and Development (SwCMD) group within the Electric Plant Networks and Software Design section of Department E70/E83. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining, implementing, documenting, testing, and debugging databases for internal process improvements to support the engineering department and help with shipboard database design.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 1 years of relevant professional experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Nice to Have
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), MySQL, and MariaDB
- Coding experience with C#, Python, and SQL
- Knowledge of how pipelines are used
- Translating Backlog Items into precise database structures
- Database management
- Agile/Scrum/Kanban experience
