Position Overview
Higley Industries is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead day-to-day production at our Dyersville manufacturing facility.
This role ensures production is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to established quality standards. The Production Manager will lead production employees and frontline leads, coordinate staffing and production priorities, monitor performance, and work closely with Maintenance, Warehouse, Mixing, Quality, and other departments.
We are looking for a hands-on leader who enjoys developing teams, solving problems, and improving how work gets done.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily production operations to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and scheduling goals.
- Provide leadership, coaching, development, and accountability to production employees and frontline leads.
- Plan staffing and labour requirements based on production needs and customer demand.
- Coordinate production priorities and adjust plans when operational issues arise.
- Monitor production KPIs, throughput, downtime, efficiency, and labour utilization.
- Work closely with Maintenance, Warehouse, Mixing, Quality, and Procurement to maintain effective production flow.
- Ensure employees follow SOPs, safety requirements, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee development.
- Lead or support root-cause investigations and corrective actions related to production, quality, and equipment issues.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve workflow, processes, equipment utilization, and productivity.
- Support new equipment, products, processes, and capital improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate production records and communicate production performance, staffing needs, and operational challenges to plant leadership.
Qualifications
- 5 years of progressive manufacturing or production experience.
- Previous experience supervising or managing employees in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, workflow, and labour management.
- Experience monitoring and improving production KPIs.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, Procurement, and other operational teams.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience
- Chemical, consumer products, food and beverage, packaging, or process manufacturing.
- Managing multiple production lines, shifts, supervisors, or frontline leads.
- Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or other continuous-improvement methods.
- ERP/MRP or production planning systems.
- Root-cause analysis and corrective-action processes.
- Regulated or SOP-driven manufacturing environments.
- Bilingual English/Spanish capabilities are considered an asset.
