Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at HighPoint - Trousdale Medical Center. As a Medical/Surgical nurse on the night shift, you will provide direct patient care through medication administration, clinical treatments, and monitoring of patient conditions.
This role requires critical thinking, effective communication, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment. You will collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care, educate patients and families on health management, and advocate for patients' well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
- Reports to: Director of Nursing
- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
- Documents patient care given.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Observes central monitor screens, interprets, recognizes and records changes in patient's rhythms and notifies nurse/physician as appropriate.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree or RN Diploma required.
- Required Skills:
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire or must be obtained within 90 days of employment, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of employment.
- License: Current TN or Multi-State RN licensure.
- Minimum Work Experience: Six months to one year experience as RN. New Graduates will be considered.
