As a Psychiatric RN, you will provide direct care and treatment to patients in a mental health setting, utilizing the nursing process and adhering to established standards of practice.
Description
Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
You will report directly to the Director Nursing - Geri Psych.
The key responsibilities include:
- Performing plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
- Documenting patient care given.
- Monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assisting patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborating as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluating learning needs of patient and/or family and providing patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Working as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Qualifications
The following qualifications are required:
- A minimum of an Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree or RN Diploma.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire or within 90 days of employment, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 12 months of employment.
- Current TN or Multi-State RN licensure.
- Six months to one year experience with psychiatric/behavioral patients.
