Summary of Position

Our Personal Banker role focuses on providing excellent customer service, generating referrals, meeting sales goals, successful onboarding of new customers, and educating customers on banking products and services. This position is responsible for assisting customers with new and existing depository accounts and personal lending needs. The Personal Banker is responsible for acquiring new banking customers and expanding existing relationships through need-based interviews, account openings, and originating consumer loans. Maintains positive relationships with customers as set by bank standards. Fully cross-trained to perform all front-line duties.


Principal Responsibilities

    • Works with new and existing customers to discuss and recommend the bank’s products and services based on features and benefits to fit the customer’s financial needs.
    • Ensures new customers have a successful onboarding experience, including placing follow-up calls to new customers.
    • Performs platform duties to include, but not limited to, opening/closing all types of depository accounts, granting access to safe deposit boxes, and assisting customers with queries concerning financial institutions products and services.
    • Handles personal loan inquiries, including interviewing applicants, reviewing credit, documenting loans, obtaining approval, and closing loans in Managers absence.
    • Operates independently and serves customers with care and accuracy in processing a variety of transactions, such as the following: Deposits and withdrawals from deposit accounts, cash checks, process loan payments, issue cashier’s checks, perform cash advances, gift cards/ travel cards, order foreign currency.
    • Balance assigned cash daily and maintain strict adherence to security procedures and assigned cash limits.
    • Achieves all sales, cross-selling and customer service goals and leads by example.
    • Collaborates and communicates effectively with peer departments to meet our customer needs, resolve issues, and ensure overall customer satisfaction.
    • Ensures compliance with all internal controls and established policies and procedures. Recommends changes to procedures to streamline processes.
    • Maintain trust by keeping all customer’s business confidential.
    • Maintains inventory of vault cash and its disbursement to Tellers.
    • May control scheduling of Tellers.
    • May mentor/sponsor newly hired Tellers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent or 2-3 years retail banking experience preferred. Associates degree and/or prior supervisory/coaching experience preferred.
    • Must have demonstrated proficiency in promoting bank products
    • Pleasant and courteous with a customer service focus
    • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and analytical skills. Ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image.
    • Above average administrative and organizational skills
    • Thrive in a fast-paced environment
    • Professional attitude and appearance are necessary
