What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Loan Officer position at Highpoint Community Bank?
Summary: Sales oriented position responsible for the proficient administration of all procedures necessary to make commercial loans and obtain deposit relationships, including attracting borrowers, evaluation applications and financial data, reviewing loan documents and closing or paying out the proceeds of the loan. Ensures that we are providing exceptional customer service to our commercial customers.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Develops and investigates loan and deposit gathering opportunities, attracts borrowers, increases loan portfolio and builds banking relationships.
- Interviews loan applicants, and collects and analyzes financial and related data to determine the general creditworthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request.
- Advises, trains, and educates other lenders and staff as necessary.
- Gains familiarity with full line of bank products for the purpose of developing and maintaining relationship banking ties with borrowers and depositors.
- Participates in Officer Calling Program.
- Participates in community organizations and activities, cultivates business relationships and promotes the image and services/products of the Bank.
- Provides support to other departments and branches.
- Complies with government lending laws and regulations as well as the bank’s loan policies and procedures.
- Participates in the loan review function of the bank. Assists reviewers in preparation of reviews of the incumbents’ credits.
- Monitors existing loan portfolio keeping in contact with customers in order to ensure complete conformity with terms of loan, and be cognizant of developing trends. Keeps advised on technical and documentary exceptions. Maintains current financial information and balances on customers who have board established lined of credit.
- Monitors loan repayment activities and takes necessary action to collect from past due accounts.
- Prepares and maintains various reports required by management and/or other regulators in a timely and accurate manner.
- Protects the Bank’s assets through adherence to overall Bank policies.
- Possesses polished presentation skills for Loan Committee Meetings.
- Assists our branch managers in business development for their markets.
- Performs additional assignments as directed.
