Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, qualified Craft Master Instructor/Writers to support the U.S. Navy LCU (LCU‑1600) Craft Master course and serve as assistant instructors for related maritime courses, delivering classroom, onboard, underway, shop, and simulator-based instruction, maintaining and updating lesson plans and course materials to meet Navy/DoD standards, and ensuring continuous, timely performance while complying with security, and training.
Duties
- Present full classroom instruction on maritime systems, basic navigation, Rules of the Road, marine radar, cargo handling/stowage, damage control and firefighting, and vessel operations.
- Conduct hands‑on/platform training aboard LCU vessels (underway and dockside) including docking/undocking, beaching/retracting, amphibious scenarios, loading/stowage, and communications procedures.
- Operate and instruct using maritime training simulators and desktop navigation tools.
- Serve as Assistant Instructor when required (powering/setting up AV/simulators, printing/distributing materials, proctoring exams, assisting students).
- Develop, update, and maintain course materials, lesson plans, POIs, and training aids; recommend and document POI changes (course maintenance).
- Prepare daily lesson plans, ensure all training aids and electronic media are ready before class, and adjust instruction per POI/equipment/procedure changes.
- Provide remedial instruction and administrative support (scheduling, pier requests, graduation support).
Pay: $29.00 - $37.00 per hour
