Hours: Monday - Friday, 10-15 hours per week.
Pay: $10.00/hour
The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA), the private fundraising and alumni relations organization for UW-Madison, is seeking a Alumni Advocacy and State Relations Intern to start this summer continuing throughout the 2021-20211 academic year. The position will assist the WFAA alumni advocacy program working in social media, event planning, writing and web content development. This internship will include creation of social media strategy, research and content creation, management of Facebook and Twitter accounts, assisting with virtual and in person events, and updating advocacy web presence.

The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association is a private, nonprofit corporation that encourages individuals and organizations to make gifts to the university and to connect with the UW. In 2014, the UW Foundation merged with the Wisconsin Alumni Association® to better serve a growing population of UW alumni and donors. We believe that private support grows out of good relationships between campus leaders, faculty and program staff who need support, and the alumni and friends who want to invest in UW-Madison. We provide important engagement opportunities to link UW-Madison alumni to each other and to their alma mater, building a strong community of Badgers.

Responsibilities
Marketing & Communication:
- Assist in deploying social media tactics for alumni advocacy
- Monitor social media accounts
- Create social media posts
- Build a social media ad campaign
- Maintain and update web pages
- Manage alumni advocacy software
- Other duties as assigned
- Explore new media tools and opportunities to improve engagement
- Compile data for analysis
- Perform analysis of program metrics
- Maintain tracking report of program activity
- Other duties as assigned
- Assist with coordinating events for alumni advocacy during peak times
- Create and distribute event listing pages on social media websites
- Collaborate with UW Office of Government Affairs on key advocacy issues
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Some college coursework completed and currently enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
- Knowledge and experience with social media
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to work 10 -15hours/week between the hours of 8:00am and 5:30pm
- Background and knowledge of public policy and politics is strongly preferred.
- Research acumen
- Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments
- Ability to multi task and prioritize
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a small team environment
- Disciplined self-starter who regularly sets and achieves work goal
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office
