Position Overview

Seeking an Ohio-licensed independent therapist to provide trauma focused mental-health and co-occurring substance-use disorder treatment.

This position will focus primarily on individual therapy, comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing evaluation of client progress. The ideal candidate is comfortable treating adults with a range of mental-health concerns and understands how substance use, trauma, medical needs, housing instability, and other life circumstances can affect a client’s presentation and treatment.

The therapist will work as part of a highly collaborative behavioral-health team that includes clinical, psychiatric, medical, case-management, and peer-support professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and diagnostic evaluations within the clinician’s license and scope of practice.
  • Assess mental-health symptoms, functional impairment, safety concerns, strengths, treatment history, substance use, and environmental needs.
  • Provide individual therapy for clients with mental-health and co-occurring substance-use disorders.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable clinical goals, objectives, and interventions.
  • Complete treatment-plan reviews and update recommendations based on client progress and changing clinical needs.
  • Maintain clear linkage between assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, therapeutic interventions, and progress notes.
  • Monitor symptoms, functioning, risk factors, barriers, and response to treatment.
  • Recognize when psychiatric, medical, crisis, or higher-level-of-care intervention may be necessary.
  • Complete ASAM assessments and substance-use level-of-care recommendations when applicable.
  • Coordinate care with psychiatric and medical providers, case managers, peer-support staff, clinical supervisors, and outside providers.
  • Facilitate clinical or psychoeducational groups on an occasional or assigned basis.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, individualized, and clinically appropriate documentation.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, treatment-team meetings, training, and quality-improvement activities.
  • Maintain appropriate professional and ethical boundaries with clients, coworkers, and community partners.
  • Comply with confidentiality, ethical, regulatory, payer, and organizational requirements.

Qualifications

  • Active Ohio license as an:
  • Licensed Independent Social Worker — LISW
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - LPCC
  • Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist - IMFT
  • Degree meeting the educational requirements of the applicable Ohio license.
  • Experience providing mental-health assessment, counseling, or therapy is preferred.
  • Experience completing biopsychosocial assessments and individualized treatment plans is preferred.
  • Experience treating substance-use disorders or co-occurring conditions is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to identify and respond appropriately to clinical risk, deterioration, and changing treatment needs.
  • Ability to complete assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes within required timeframes.
  • Strong clinical communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Ability to provide respectful and effective services to clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be able to complete required background checks and employment screenings including pre-employment drug screening.

Preferred Experience

  • Outpatient or community mental-health treatment
  • Individual therapy
  • Relationship therapy
  • Diagnostic or biopsychosocial assessments
  • Treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, or other common mental-health conditions
  • Co-occurring mental-health and substance-use treatment
  • Medicaid or managed-care documentation
  • Crisis assessment and safety planning
  • Motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, or other evidence-informed approaches
  • ASAM criteria or substance-use level-of-care assessment

Hybrid Work

The position is primarily on-site during the initial training and onboarding period. After the clinician successfully completes initial training and demonstrates the ability to meet clinical, productivity, communication, availability, and documentation expectations, a hybrid work arrangement may be available.

The specific hybrid schedule will be based on job responsibilities, client needs, performance, and organizational requirements. Some duties, meetings, assessments, or services may continue to require on-site attendance.

Compensation

Compensation is based on licensure, relevant experience, clinical competency, and additional qualifications. Premium compensation is available for clinicians who have experience in EMDR, DBT, or a Certified Trauma Specialist.

Highlife Recovery does not currently offer employer-sponsored health insurance. Additional compensation and available benefits will be discussed during the interview process.

Pay: $68,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
