Duties
- Assist in supervising children during various activities such as sports, arts and crafts, tutoring sessions, and recreational events
- Support classroom management by maintaining order and encouraging positive behavior among children
- Help facilitate age-appropriate lessons or activities aligned with program goals
- Ensure safety protocols are followed by monitoring children’s well-being and responding to minor injuries or incidents with basic first aid when necessary
- Engage children in developmental activities that promote childhood development and early childhood education principles
- Collaborate with staff to create an inclusive environment that respects diverse backgrounds and needs
- Support special events or camps by assisting with setup, participant engagement, and cleanup efforts
Requirements
- Passion for working with children and a genuine desire to contribute to their growth and well-being
- Prior experience or interest in childcare, tutoring, sports coaching, theater, or similar activities is a plus
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
- Ability to perform basic first aid and respond calmly in emergency situations
- Familiarity with special education needs or childhood development is beneficial but not required
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Commitment to maintaining a safe environment that aligns with YMCA policies and child protection standards
