Duties

• Assist in supervising children during various activities such as sports, arts and crafts, tutoring sessions, and recreational events
• Support classroom management by maintaining order and encouraging positive behavior among children
• Help facilitate age-appropriate lessons or activities aligned with program goals
• Ensure safety protocols are followed by monitoring children’s well-being and responding to minor injuries or incidents with basic first aid when necessary
• Engage children in developmental activities that promote childhood development and early childhood education principles
• Collaborate with staff to create an inclusive environment that respects diverse backgrounds and needs
• Support special events or camps by assisting with setup, participant engagement, and cleanup efforts

Requirements

• Passion for working with children and a genuine desire to contribute to their growth and well-being
• Prior experience or interest in childcare, tutoring, sports coaching, theater, or similar activities is a plus
• Knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
• Ability to perform basic first aid and respond calmly in emergency situations
• Familiarity with special education needs or childhood development is beneficial but not required
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Commitment to maintaining a safe environment that aligns with YMCA policies and child protection standards
