POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible to perform or assist in some or all aspects of revenue receipting and payables for the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) and Clerk of Court (Clerk). The Accounting Clerk is expected to be highly motivated and professional and have the ability to communicate proficiently verbally and in writing with personnel of other departments within the Clerk and Board agencies. The Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist reports to the Accounts Payable/Receivable Director or Manager
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Understand and follow the procedures for Board and Clerk Accounts Receivables including invoicing, receipting, reporting, and problem solving.
- Understand and follow the procedures for Board and Clerk Account Payables, including posting, balancing, check issuance, reporting and problem solving.
- Is responsible for running reports within the on-line Banking system to ensure that all payments and receipts are correct and posted to the Financial System.
- Must be able to field questions from departments and the public and be able to work with vendors and departments to resolve discrepancies and problems.
- Makes recommendations to improve department processes and procedures.
- Employees will be required to perform other duties as directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proven proficiency in basic Accounting practices, procedures and rules.
- Proficient Microsoft Office User
- Must be accurate and detail oriented
- Multi-tasking ability and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions.
- Time management skills essential
- Retain a high level of confidentiality
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate relationships with employees of the Board of County Commissioners, the Clerk of Courts and the elected Officials
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalency
- Experience in Government accounting

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate utilizing speech, vision, and hearing skills.
- Ability to operate a keyboard, calculator, and other business machines.
- Ability to remain at a workstation and view a display screen for prolonged periods of time.
- Traverse stairs (if elevator is not accessible).
- Sit for extended periods of time.
- Lift and carry objects in excess of 10 pounds.
- Utilize stepladder (filing out of normal reach).
