Position Overview:
Highland Sanitation's diesel technicians are the all-stars of our close knit team that keeps our 3rd generation family owned & operated company going each day. You will be a key employee helping perform necessary repairs, inspections and diagnostics to help ensure safe and productive operations day to day.
You will work closely with the shop manager and the other two diesel technicians and be their primary point of contact to assist with diagnostics and repairs.
This position is for first shift and would be from 9am to 6pm, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications and Skills
We are looking for an experienced diesel technician with a minimum of 2 years of experience and previous experience with refuse equipment is a plus! Ideal candidates will be comfortable and experienced with heavy truck diagnostics and repairs including: Electrical systems, diesel engines & exhaust systems, suspension, steering, air brakes and hydraulics. Metal fabrication & welding experience is a plus!

Day to day duties:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, including but not limited to transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, and suspension systems.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using automotive diagnostics tools and schematics.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for assembly and repair tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used for each job.
- Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Desired Skills :
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in diesel engine repair and diagnostics
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Experience with fabrication techniques and welding is a plus.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting purposes.
- Knowledge of diesel engines & exhaust systems, HVAC systems, brake repair, alignment, suspension, tire service, and electrical systems
- Capability to perform heavy lifting as required during repairs.
- Previous experience in a diesel technician role is required, with a preference on 3 years of experience. The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S is $38.00 - $45.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
