What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parents as Teachers Coordinator position at Highland Park ISD?
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree (early childhood, social work or related field of study, preferred)Certificate, Parent Educator through Parents as Teachers National Office (training will be provided)Background in Child Development/Early Childhood.Strong organizational skills.Demonstrated ability to work with adults and their young children. REPORTS TO: Director of Student Support and AcademicsJOB GOAL: To inform, instruct, and aid parents in the skills necessary for quality parenting and early childhood education ensuring that the children get the best possible start in life. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide professional parent instruction and delivery of information to district families implementing the curriculum provided by the National Parents As Teachers Center.Coordinate services with other community programs with similar purposes.Support and enhance the existing Parents As Teachers program.Represent the district at various community events supporting families and/or young children.Support the value of education.Support the philosophy and mission of Highland Park ISD.Support the philosophy and mission of Parents As Teachers.Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions: Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend, lift and reach.Requires the ability to travel.Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
