Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Mushroom Company Grower / Plant Manager to lead our mushroom cultivation operations. This role is vital in overseeing the entire production process, ensuring optimal growth conditions, maintaining high-quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, mushroom cultivation knowledge, and expertise in manging laboratory operations. This is a sterile tissue culture - solid substrate fermentation operation growing Full Spectrum Lion's Mane mushroom mycelium only. Some liquid fermentation will also be done. Analytical chemistry knowledge is a strong plus for this position. You will be instrumental in managing daily plant activities, coordinating production planning, and implementing lean manufacturing practices to maximize efficiency and product quality.
Duties
- Oversee all aspects of mushroom cultivation, including substrate preparation, inoculation, incubation, contamination control, harvesting, and packaging.
- Manage daily plant operations to ensure production targets are met while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Lead continuous improvement projects focused on process enhancement, waste reduction, and operational efficiency using lean manufacturing principles.
- Coordinate with supply chain teams to analyze logistics data, improve supply chain management, and streamline procurement processes.
- Implement quality control procedures throughout the production cycle to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
- Coordinate the Maintainance of mechanical systems and equipment to ensure reliable operation; troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and innovation within the plant environment while ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in production management within a mushroom cultivation or spawn making company. Must have knowledge of steam systems including boiler and autoclave operation.
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting in a mushroom plant environment.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Solid understanding of quality control standards and safety regulations relevant to food production facilities.
- Ability to develop detailed production plans, analyze operational data, and implement solutions that enhance productivity and product quality.
