JOB SUMMARY

The job of Administrative Assistant II provides a variety of office support and/or secretarial duties for a specified building or program. This position reports to the Building Principal/Program Administrator/Department Supervisor.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform a wide variety of assignments which are sometimes confidential in nature; operate personal computer to enter data, draft, edit, revise, and print letters, tables, and reports and other materials.
  • Provide courteous, efficient, positive, and welcoming atmosphere to students, staff, parents, administration and community including answering phones in a consistently positive and friendly tone, and performing a variety of other office functions.
  • Work as a team member, relating positively with students, staff, and the community at large.
  • Respond to multiple questions and requests from students, staff and parents in a positive, professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain a highly organized and efficient file system.
  • Perform a range of staff and/or operational support activities; may serve as a liaison with other departments on basic administrative and/or operational matters.
  • Maintain strict level of confidentiality.
  • Oversee and facilitate work-flow as needed.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities as needed in the health room.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

     Education/Training

  • AA Degree or equivalent education and/or work experience.

     Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize work in an environment with multiple, simultaneous tasks.
  • Considerable knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and related software.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to identify routine problems and propose feasible solutions.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally with persons at all levels.
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills and the demonstrated ability to develop written reports and action plans.
  • Ability to project a positive, concerned image to the public.

Must be physically capable of kneeling, bending, standing and have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., if necessary.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT and Salary:

As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of the Mead Association of Educational Office Professionals (MAEOP) and Policies and Procedures of Mead School District. A typical school year consists of the one hundred eighty (180) scheduled school days plus eleven (11) holidays and twenty-One (21) days beyond the one hundred eighty (180) day student calendar. 

 

The salary range for the position is:(Range B) Min $20.98 – Max $29.79 Salary placement will be at step 1 on the appropriate scale for the position unless otherwise noted within the contract. Each employee shall accumulate twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than a full work year shall be entitled to a proportionate part of the sick leave allowance.  A maximum of three (3) days of annual leave are provided for all employees based on the employee’s scheduled employment hours per day to be used for an absence during work hours, or to be accumulated for the purpose of cash out.

 

Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability.  Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.
