Job Description
Highland Family Medicine is seeking a Part Time Family Nurse Practitioner to join its team. Candidates for this role would work 32 hours per week, Part Time. Most hours are between Monday - Friday, Days, but there are small Saturday and evening requirements as well. All to be explained in greater detail during initial contact w/ team.
Some Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
Direct patient care, coordination of clinical services and assurance of continuity of care, resident and other student education, as well as assisting the coordination of team functions.
Provides direct patient care to patients from neonate through geriatrics according to community standards for clinical practice, Family Medicine protocols, procedures and guidelines, and professional Nurse Practitioner standards for advanced clinical practice.
Practices within the scope of New York State Nurse Practitioner regulations as per the New York State Nurse Practitioner Act as well as the Federal DEA prescriptive regulations if DEA registered.
Examines patients and prescribes treatment when indicated for individuals and families requiring acute and chronic health care, preventive and restorative care, and evaluation and care of physical, mental, and developmental function and capabilities.
Counsels and educates patients, their families, and their care givers on either self or directed care intended to maintain or restore physical or emotional health or function.
Counsels and educates parents and other direct care providers of minor children and adults, including the elderly, regarding special care needs, emphasizing normal growth and development, positive parenting, maintenance of independence, safety, appropriate use of medications and support services, nutrition, restoration of health and function, and illness and disability prevention. May be the continuing care provider for their own patient panel as part of the Pt Centered Medical Home
Provides phone care to patients and serves as a resource person to the team nurse regarding phone care, triage evaluations for acute care, and patient management when clinical decisions are required.
Assists with the completion of paperwork required for patient care or outside agency evaluation in the absence of the primary physician and during the three-month transition when the third year residents graduate.
Salary Range
$98,000.00 - $130,083.20 annually (These are Full Time, 10.FTE equivalents, would be prorated to match 32 hour a week schedule)
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Job Requirements
- Education: Fulfills the educational requirements to be a licensed NP in NYS; specialization in Family Practice highly desirable; consideration given for nurse practitioners with other specialty training.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a registered nurse prior to completing a Master’s program is desired. Minimum 1 year experience as a practicing Family Nurse Practitioner in an ambulatory primary care setting is desired. 3-5 years as an FNP in ambulatory care highly desirable. Bilingual and teaching experience is desired.
- License/Certification Required: Licensure to practice as a nurse practitioner in the State of . Certification by the State of for specialty practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner with full prescriptive privileges. Registration by the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency to prescribe Category II through V drugs. Certification in Family Practice preferred from a national organization, such as, but not limited to, the of the American Nurses Association. This will be necessary for continued employment.
- Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Proficient, efficient, and safe independent clinical practice capability. The Nurse Practitioner working primarily at Highland Family Planning must demonstrate competence with gynecological procedures including IUD insertions, inserting implantable contraceptive devices, administering injection contraceptives and immunizations as well as other skills necessary for the position within 1 month of hire.
