The Highland CSD offers a four-day school week with competitive pay. Currently we are accepting applications for an anticipated full time Secondary Physical Education teaching position. We are a 1:1 Chromebook district grades 6-12 with a student body and staff committed to success.
The Highland CSD is a small community committed to academic excellence through self-discovery and respect that offers a progressive PK-12 education to approximately 600 students. Highland Elementary (Grades: PK-5 ) is conveniently located just 15 miles south of Iowa City in Riverside Iowa.

PURPOSE
Under the general supervision of the Building Principal, the classroom teacher facilitates student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Structures a physical classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and maximizes student learning.
- Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve an optimal learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Performs basic attendance, accounting, and administrative tasks as required.
- Performs supervision as needed.
- Seeks to improve competency by participating in personal and professional growth activities in conjunction with building and District goals.
- Attends work on a consistent and punctual basis.
- Follows and abides by District policies.
