Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide companionship and emotional support to foster a positive environment
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking
- Monitor patients’ health by checking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition or behavior
- Support medication management and administration following care plans and HIPAA privacy regulations
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment through light housekeeping, laundry, and sanitation tasks
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely to assist with mobility or transfers
- Document care activities accurately and communicate updates promptly to family members or healthcare professionals
- Support clients with cognitive impairments like Alzheimer’s or dementia through memory care techniques and patient observation
- Follow established care plans diligently while adapting to each individual’s evolving needs
Qualifications
- Prior experience in home health, assisted living, nursing home, or group home settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring patient confidentiality at all times
- Certifications in CPR and First Aid are required; additional training in hospice care, Alzheimer’s/dementia care, or autism support is a plus
- Strong ability to monitor vital signs and recognize signs of distress or health deterioration
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or disabilities is advantageous
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient monitoring and collaboration with healthcare teams
