What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinery Service Technician position at Highland Automation and Robotics?
This position involves assembling, troubleshooting, training, identifying parts, sourcing parts, providing directions to install parts or installing parts in person in woodworking machinery. The basic requirements would include the ability to read parts breakdowns and identify parts from a parts list, reading manuals and interpreting instructions to communicate to customers either in person or over the phone, moderate understanding of 3 phase power and the willingness to learn more about electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems of basic to complicated woodworking machinery. The ideal candidate would have an in-depth knowledge of these systems and have a strong desire for travel regionally, nationally, and internationally. Computer knowledge is very beneficial, at minimum a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ideally familiar with Autocad, sharing files, and basic plc knowledge an extra plus.
The position is mostly a traveling position visiting customer locations to work on the machines. Good personal skills are helpful when communicating with factory owners and managers as well as the machine operators and maintenance staff. The ability to work under pressure and remain calm and positive in stressful situations is a critical skill that will be continually worked on and improved.
Starting pay is $25-$35 per hour depending on skillset and attitude and especially on willingness to travel. Most travel will be overnight, or 1 week at longest. Per diem pay for overnight travel is a bonus incentive for the hard work. Some plane travel will be required.
Highland Automation is an importer, distributor, manufacturer, and integrator of manufacturing machines for wood, plastics, and composites industries. Customers include high volume manufacturers of wood furniture, flooring, cabinets, stair components, and other materials such as plastics and composites manufacturers.
