Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Advocate to support children with diverse learning needs in educational settings. The ideal candidate will collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to develop and implement individualized strategies that promote academic, social, and emotional growth. This role requires a strong understanding of special education principles, behavioral management, and inclusive practices to ensure all students receive equitable support tailored to their unique abilities. The Special Needs Advocate will play a vital role in fostering an inclusive environment that encourages learning, independence, and confidence among children with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral strategies.
- Assist in curriculum development tailored to students' specific needs, including literacy, math, early childhood education, and life skills.
- Provide direct support to children with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, deaf or visually impaired education needs.
- Utilize specialized techniques such as speech therapy, behavioral therapy, music therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and recreational therapy to enhance learning outcomes.
- Support classroom management by creating an inclusive environment that accommodates various disabilities and promotes positive behavior.
- Implement instructional design principles for lesson planning across diverse subjects including physical education, literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing and provide tutoring or mentoring as needed to reinforce learning objectives.
- Assist with classroom activities that promote childhood development and early intervention strategies.
- Support children's social-emotional well-being through counseling techniques and behavior management strategies.
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP goals, and behavioral interventions while ensuring compliance with educational standards.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational or therapeutic settings is essential.
- Demonstrated knowledge of special education practices including curriculum development, classroom management, and IEP processes.
- Experience working with students with disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, hearing impairments, visual impairments, or behavioral health challenges.
- Familiarity with learning technology tools used in special education environments.
- Background in speech therapy, literacy education, math instruction, early childhood education, or related fields is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with children with diverse needs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in designing individualized lesson plans and implementing instructional strategies for special populations is preferred.
