JOB SUMMARY

The Inventory Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting compliance with all state and local cannabis regulations, and ensuring the integrity of inventory systems across the dispensary. This role plays a critical function in inventory intake, reconciliation, tracking, and reporting, while supporting operational efficiency and audit readiness.

The Inventory Clerk works closely with Dispensary Managers, budtenders, and General Manager to ensure accurate product tracking within POS and state-mandated systems such as Metrc.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Inventory Intake & Verification
  • Receive and verify all incoming inventory deliveries against invoices, manifests, and purchase orders.
  • Inspect product for accuracy, damage, and compliance with labeling requirements.
  • Accurately input inventory into POS system (Treez) and Metrc.
  • Ensure proper tagging and UID tracking for all products.
  • Report discrepancies, shortages, or damages to management immediately.

Inventory Control & Organization
  • Maintain organized and compliant storage of all inventory in accordance with SOPs.
  • Ensure proper product rotation (FIFO) to minimize aging inventory.
  • Label and categorize products accurately within storage areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of inventory rooms and vaults.
  • Assist in maintaining par levels and stock organization.

Inventory Reconciliation & Audits
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inventory counts as assigned.
  • Assist with full inventory hard counts and reconciliation processes.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical counts, POS, and Metrc.
  • Maintain accurate inventory logs and documentation for audit purposes.
  • Support internal and external compliance audits.
Compliance & Regulatory Adherence
  • Ensure all inventory practices comply with California DCC regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and audit-ready records at all times.
  • Ensure proper tracking of all inventory movements in Treez and Metrc.
  • Follow all SOPs related to inventory handling, storage, and tracking.
  • Immediately report any compliance concerns or irregularities.
Inventory Transfers & Adjustments
  • Prepare and process internal transfers between locations.
  • Assist in generating and verifying shipping manifests.
  • Execute inventory adjustments in POS and Metrc with proper documentation and approvals.
  • Track and manage returned, defective, or expired products in accordance with SOPs.
Data Entry & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and timely data entry in all inventory systems.
  • Generate inventory reports as requested by management.
  • Track aging inventory and assist with reporting for sell-through strategies.
  • Support reconciliation reporting and variance tracking.
Loss Prevention & Shrink Mitigation
  • Monitor inventory movement to identify potential shrink or discrepancies.
  • Follow strict inventory handling procedures to minimize loss.
  • Report suspicious activity or irregularities immediately.
  • Assist in implementing shrink reduction initiatives.

Collaboration & Operational Support
  • Work closely with Dispensary Managers, budtenders, and General Manager.
  • Support sales floor restocking and product availability.
  • Assist with inventory-related operational tasks as needed.
  • Communicate inventory issues that may impact sales or compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of inventory or warehouse experience (cannabis experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with cannabis compliance systems such as Metrc.
  • Experience with POS systems (Treez preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Basic proficiency in Excel and inventory reporting.
  • Ability to lift and move inventory as required.
  • Strong knowledge of cannabis products, strains, consumption methods and California cannabis regulations.

  • Must pass a background check as required by California law.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

The pay for this position is $22.00 per hour. The pay is the hourly rate plus tips.

SCHEDULE

This position requires a flexible schedule with shifts that consist of a rotating schedule of weekday and weekends shifts, including day, night and holiday work hours.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by air conditioning systems. Must be able to and able to stand for up to 6-8 hours per day. Must be able to lift to 25-50 pounds. Requires dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, vending, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, management and team.
