Job Description:
We are seeking a Certified Phlebotomy Technician to join the Laboratory team. The ideal candidate will have strong venipuncture experience and a commitment to patient care and laboratory excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and/or capillary blood draws (CPT I), including arterial draws (if CPT II certified).
- Answer phones and manage patient check-in.
- Order laboratory testing and process/send out tests for Shared Lab and Quest.
- Operate centrifuge equipment for blood tube processing.
- Stock phlebotomy carts and alert manager regarding supply needs.
- Collect blood samples using vacutainer, butterfly, and syringe methods.
- Collect blood cultures using sterile techniques.
- Log pathology specimens and scan final reports into EPIC (Electronic Health Record).
- Conduct microbiology plating of positive blood cultures.
- Set up urine cultures for analysis.
Required Certifications:
- California Phlebotomy License (CPT I or CPT II) – Required
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician – Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
