Summary
The Eden Hill Milieu is tasked with daily observation and support for guests. The Milieu is expected to enforce the rules and policies of the program and intervene when necessary. Additionally, the Milieu is responsible for conducting UA/BA screenings and monitoring the consumption of medications by guests, ensuring adherence to documentation protocols. General house management and facility maintenance are also part of their duties, which include daily chores, preparing bedrooms for new admissions after discharges, and restocking guest food, paper products, and office supplies. A valid driver’s license is required, as the Milieu may need to assist with guest transportation and procurement of supplies for the facility. For those working the second shift, the Milieu will remain overnight until 8:30 AM. They may rest from the end of their scheduled second shift until 8:30 AM and will receive a nightly stipend for this time. During the overnight hours, the Milieu must be available to assist any guests who may need help. If called upon during the night, they will be compensated at their hourly wage until the task is completed.
Responsibilities:
Guest Monitoring and Support:
- Observation of Guests
- Observe guests closely to identify any emotional, physical, or behavioral changes, and provide support as needed.
- Monitor for behaviors that may suggest substance use.
- Keep track of each guest’s whereabouts, confirming their locations using the OneStep system.
- Ensure guests are participating in meetings, IOP, and any other scheduled commitments.
- Enforce adherence to house rules and policies among guests.
- Supervise and document guest medication consumption in the designated medication storage area, following the required protocols.
- Guest Support
- Be available to guests for support, drawing on personal training, responsibilities, and expertise.
- Communicate any important information to the director or the Eden Hill distribution thread if it is relevant to the entire treatment team.
- Assist guests in connecting with potential sponsors or other positive support systems within the local recovery community.
- Overnight Duties
- Remain on-site and on-call to provide support for guests who request assistance, in emergencies, or for any other directives given by a supervisor.
- Staff may rest during the overnight hours while remaining on-call.
- Overnight hours are from 30 minutes past curfew until 8:30 AM, when the first shift arrives.
House Management:
- Drug Testing
- Conduct UA/BA screenings as directed or if there is suspicion of guest intoxication.
- Rule Enforcement
- Enforce house rules outlined in the Guest Contract or other specific policies.
- Conduct evening chore checks to ensure guest compliance.
- Adhere to the phase and point policies specified in the Eden Hill Policies and Procedure Manual, updating the point book daily at the conclusion of the second shift.
Facility Upkeep:
- Assist in the daily maintenance of the facility's cleanliness.
- Help prepare rooms for new guests.
- Provide assistance with grocery shopping as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with the transportation of guests as directed.
- Support tasks as assigned by a supervisor.
- Conduct the Sunday night house meeting if scheduled or directed to do so.
Consultation with Other Professionals Regarding Treatment and Services:
- Participate in in-house staffing and individual sessions with a supervisor.
- Recognize and understand issues that exceed your knowledge or skill set.
- Consult with appropriate resources to ensure effective treatment services are provided.
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies regarding the confidentiality of guest-identifying information.
Requirements:
- Fundamental computer proficiency.
- A valid driver's license.
- Evidence of the ability to make situationally appropriate decisions.
- Must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
