Company Description High Voltage Fitness is a radically inclusive, community-centered gym created for people who have not felt welcome in traditional fitness spaces. Role Description The Youth Coach is a part-time, on-site role based in Burbank, CA, responsible for leading safe, engaging, and inclusive fitness sessions for young people. This role includes planning and delivering age-appropriate workouts, teaching fundamental movement skills, and fostering a positive, body-neutral environment where youth can build confidence and resilience. The Youth Coach will communicate regularly with caregivers, support trauma-informed and accessible coaching practices, and help uphold the gym’s values of inclusivity and respect. Daily responsibilities also involve monitoring participant safety, tracking attendance and progress, collaborating with other coaches on program development, and assisting with community events and youth-focused initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Experience in youth coaching or instruction, such as youth sports, physical education, or group fitness for young people.
  • Knowledge of safe movement patterns, basic strength and conditioning principles, and age-appropriate exercise programming.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with youth and caregivers.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, inclusive, and body-positive coaching practices, with sensitivity to diverse identities and abilities.
  • Ability to maintain a safe training environment, including risk awareness, injury prevention, and responsive support when issues arise.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with a small team, take initiative, and adapt programming to meet individual and group needs.
  • Previous experience in community-based organizations, social justice work, or queer/disabled-centered spaces is highly beneficial.
  • Relevant certifications such as youth fitness, personal training, group fitness, or coaching credentials are preferred.
