What are the responsibilities and job description for the Branch Shop Supervisor position at High Star Traffic?
Summary:
This role leads the efforts for assigning tasks and daily work to shop workers via load lists from operations and coordinates the efforts to accurately load and unload traffic equipment sent to job sites via work trucks, trailers, and other means of transportation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assign and distribute work equally among all crews.
- Review work tickets are complete and accurate.
- Verify outgoing trucks are loaded with correct equipment before leaving the yard.
- Verify incoming trucks are unloaded, equipment is placed in proper locations for future loading.
- Provide guidance on available equipment to be used for upcoming job needs.
- Understand inventory availability and anticipate upcoming needs for future tickets.
- Operate skid for unloading semi-trucks with equipment and other goods.
- Take incoming calls from employees during work and after hours as needed.
- Work with maintenance and sign shop to meet customer needs.
- Oversee and motivate staff on the dock, in the shop and in the yard.
- Coach, discipline and recommend corrective action when necessary.
- Maintain branch grounds including snow removal and other facility needs.
- Monitor the safety and security of goods and material that are loaded.
- Observe and lead safety policies and procedures.
- Other projects and initiatives that drive organizational goals and results.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
- This person will supervise shop and yard staff.
Education, Certifications & Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
- Must be able to maintain a Company forklift license.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a For Hire Endorsement and clean driving record.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work independently, make informed decisions, self-motivated and energetic.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Skilled with hand tools.
- Follow all safety rules and communicate instances where safety was not followed.
- Excellent ability to work in a team-fostered environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours: possibly work weekends and/or evenings.
- Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced ever-changing work environment.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail and retention of information to efficiently work.

The employee is frequently required to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds or more with lift assist. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- This position will work in an enclosed shop environment but may travel to off-site locations and therefore require wearing all PPE depending on circumstance which may include dust mask, safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection, high-visibility safety vest and/or pants and/or steel toed footwear. At times client contract driven PPE may also be required.
