Position Overview

Swampscott High School is looking for a dedicated World Language(e.g.) Teacher to help us uphold our commitment to academic excellence, create meaningful opportunities for students, and strengthen our collaborative school community. In this role, you will be responsible for the primary function of designing and implementing high-quality, authentic learning experiences that foster linguistic proficiency and cultural competency.

Essential Functions
Instructional Leadership & Language Acquisition
- Interactive Pedagogy: Design and execute varied, interactive lessons that provide students with authentic learning experiences.
- Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and refinement of the Spanish curriculum, ensuring alignment with state standards and district goals.
- Fluency & Proficiency: Utilize native or near-native fluency to provide an immersive environment; familiarity with ACTFL standards, Comprehensible Input (CI), and Oral Proficiency strategies is highly advantageous.
- Technology Integration: Effectively utilize Google Classroom and G-Suite Apps to manage instruction, facilitate learning, and communicate student progress.
Collaboration & Student Engagement
- Team Collaboration: Work flexibly and enthusiastically as a member of a collaborative World Language team, sharing best practices and participating in departmental growth.
- Student Connection: Build strong, positive relationships with students to ignite a passion for the Spanish language and cultures.
- Inclusive Practice: Actively honor diverse backgrounds and identities, creating an equitable classroom space where all students feel valued and represented.
Professional Reliability
- Consistent Attendance: Maintain punctuality and consistent attendance to ensure instructional continuity and the effective supervision and safety of all students.
- Professional Growth: Participate in professional development and reflection to stay current with modern world language pedagogy.
Qualifications
Required
- Licensure: Valid Massachusetts Educator License in Spanish (9-12).
- Fluency: Native or near-native fluency in Spanish.
- SEI Endorsement: Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement required.
- Compliance: Citizen, residency, or valid work permit required; successful completion of a Massachusetts CORI and fingerprint-based background check.
Preferred
- Advanced Placement: Experience teaching AP Spanish.
- License Status: Professional license status.
- Experience: Proven success in curriculum development and implementing interactive, proficiency-based language instruction.
