Position Overview
The Grain Valley School District is seeking a dynamic, creative, and student-centered high school teacher to lead our comprehensive business technology pathway for the 2026-2027 school year. Qualified candidates must possess appropriate certification in the state of Missouri. Coaching and organization sponsor opportunities are available.
In this role, you will inspire students through courses including Multimedia, Web Design, Graphic Arts, and Business Technology. The successful candidate for this position will spearhead our student-led broadcasting program and serve as an advisor for our Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Instruction & Curriculum Delivery
- Multimedia & Graphic Arts: Teach the fundamentals of digital media production, visual storytelling, photography, and audio/video editing. Introduce students to industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud).
- Web Design: Guide students through the foundational skills and coding (HTML/CSS) required to build functional, aesthetically pleasing websites.
- Business Technology: Instruct students in essential digital literacy, office software technology, project management tools, and professional communication skills required for the modern workforce.
- Create a classroom environment that emphasizes project-based learning, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving.
Co-Curricular & Extracurricular Leadership
- FBLA Advisor: Serve as the primary advisor for Grain Valley High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter. Guide student officers, organize community service and fundraising events, and prepare students for regional, state, and national competitive events.
- Broadcasting Program Director: Oversee the student-run broadcasting/school news program. Manage the production schedule for school announcements and news, live streams of events, and creative video features. Maintain and supervise the use of studio equipment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid State Teaching Certification in Career and Technical Education (CTE), Business Education, Marketing, or related field.
- Experience teaching business technology and/or broadcasting at the high school level.
- Strong knowledge of graphic design, video editing, and web development software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, HTML editors).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google Workspace applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Salary : $43,000 - $92,000
