Position Overview: The successful candidate will plan and teach multiple sections of Grade 6 Technology, focusing on a fast-paced, 30-day trimester rotation. You will work collaboratively with the Director of Instructional Technology and Innovation, K-12 and school-based personnel to foster technical literacy, problem-solving, and social-emotional growth. The skills taught to students in this class directly impact their ability to successfully access and use technology in the classroom setting.
Core Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Implementation: Execute a trimester-long technology rotation covering Swift Coding, Robotics, Digital Design, and Multimedia Production.
- Instructional Strategy: Modify and deliver lessons that reflect a deep understanding of middle school academic and social/emotional needs, moving students from basic tutorials to creative production.
- Data-Driven Planning: Use student reflections and technical assessments to inform interventions and individualize support.
- Inclusive Pedagogy: Establish high expectations and a safe environment for all learners, collaborating closely with all teachers and staff to ensure all students can access technical content.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a structured, positive environment conducive to "maker-style" learning, managing hardware and digital behavior.
- Professional Collaboration: Partner with administration, classroom teachers, specialists, instructional coaches, and families to support the holistic development of the student.
Qualifications:
- Current Massachusetts DESE license for Digital Learning/Computer Science, Grades 5-12 or Technology Integration Specialist (all levels) required
- Middle school classroom teaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience using instructional technology tools and resources is required, with experience using Apple hardware and software/operating systems (MacOS, iPadOS, iOS), Google Workspace for Education, strongly preferred, and Instructure platforms (Canvas LMS) preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary is determined by education and experience, ranging from Bachelor’s (Step 1) $31,608.50 to Doctorate (Step 14) $68,300 (This range is prorated for 0.5 FTE).
