Position Overview
We are a growing company looking for a reliable, hands-on Shop Lead to oversee daily shop operations and work side-by-side with our team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, leads by example, and wants to grow with a company long-term.
The Shop Lead will be responsible for managing workflow, ensuring quality production, and supporting team members to keep projects on track and up to standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and work alongside shop team members in daily production
- Oversee workflow, scheduling, and task delegation within the shop
- Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and drawings accurately
- Ensure projects are built to specifications, timelines, and quality standards
- Train, guide, and support team members to improve skills and efficiency
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Monitor material usage and communicate needs to management
- Troubleshoot issues in production and provide solutions quickly
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment
Qualifications
- Experience in timber framing (strongly preferred)
- Solid understanding of stick framing and general construction methods
- Ability to read and interpret plans and shop drawings
- Strong hands-on experience with hand tools and shop equipment
- Leadership experience or natural leadership ability
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and keep projects on schedule
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented
