How Far Could You Take Your Craft?

You've already learned how to build. What if your next opportunity could help you become one of the best in the nation at your craft - while leading an elite team and developing the people around you?

This is an opportunity to work on extraordinary property transformations, master advanced pool construction methodologies through The Legacy Program, and develop expertise in ICF, Italian quartz, shotcrete, and pool hydraulics - while owning production outcomes and growing future leaders.

If you are an accomplished pool builder, concrete or shotcrete professional, pool plumber, hydraulics specialist, or construction leader who believes there is another level to your craft and leadership, this opportunity was built for you.

Six-Month Fast-Track Training -> Full High Prairie Crew Manager Certification

Bring Your Craft. We'll Build on It.

Qualified candidates enter a six-month Crew Manager Fast-Track Training Program combining hands-on technical development with leadership, production, and project-ownership training. Successful completion leads to full certification as a High Prairie Crew Manager.

You bring craftsmanship, work ethic, leadership potential, curiosity, and accountability. We bring the training, methodologies, coaches, projects, and team to help you reach the next level.

Build Differently

High Prairie Outdoors is a nationally acclaimed outdoor living organization rooted in Kansas City. Our goal is not simply to build beautiful spaces; it is to create enduring, artistic outdoor transformations.

That approach is organized through The Legacy Program - High Prairie's proprietary operating system that connects experience-driven design, integrated site and water-management thinking, advanced construction methodologies, specialized teams, exceptional craftsmanship, and long-term stewardship.

Master Advanced Construction Methodologies

A key component of The Legacy Program is the integration of the complete pool system - a complete pool construction methodology integrating excavation, ICF structure, shotcrete, plumbing, hydraulics, bonding, equipment, and Italian quartz finish.

  • ICF pool construction
  • Shotcrete structures and Italian quartz finishes
  • Pool plumbing, hydraulics, and pressure testing
  • Precision layout, grades, and elevation control
  • Advanced bonding and equipment systems
  • Drainage, water management, and long-term pool performance

We don't just want to teach you how we build. We want you to understand why it works.

A Master of Craft. A Developer of People.

A High Prairie Crew Manager is a technical leader, people developer, and owner of outcomes. Think of your portion of the larger transformation as a micro-project. Working with the Production Manager, you help plan the work and then lead your team in delivering it.

  • Daily and weekly production planning
  • Crew leadership, coaching, and development
  • Labor-hour and production performance
  • Material ordering, staging, equipment, and site logistics
  • Quality control, safety, and punch prevention
  • Problem-solving, risk identification, and coordination with specialty teams
  • Ownership of the successful outcome of your portion of the project

You'll still build and work with your hands. You'll also plan, teach, lead, coordinate, manage resources, and develop future leaders.

Your Craft

Your primary specialty will be pool construction and hydraulics, including:

  • ICF pool structures, excavation support, and structural preparation
  • Shotcrete application and Italian quartz finish preparation
  • Pool plumbing, hydraulic routing, connections, and pressure testing
  • Equipment pads, pool decks, coping, and premium pool environments
  • Precision layout, grades, elevations, penetrations, bonding, and detailed finish work

You will work alongside specialists in masonry, carpentry, horticulture, irrigation, lighting, drainage, and site development. You are not responsible for mastering all of those trades. Your job is to lead your specialty exceptionally well, coordinate with other experts, and support the broader team when needed.

Who We're Looking For

We care more about capability, mindset, and potential than the title on your current business card. You may currently be an experienced pool builder, shotcrete or concrete professional, pool plumber, hydraulics technician, landscape construction leader, or construction manager who wants to be closer to the work.

  • 5 years of relevant craft or construction experience
  • Advanced capability in at least one core specialty: pool construction, concrete or shotcrete, plumbing, or hydraulics
  • Experience leading people or demonstrated leadership potential
  • Knowledge of layout, grades, elevations, foundations, drainage, plumbing, and/or hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read plans, solve field problems, and maintain exceptional quality standards
  • Desire to teach, develop others, and personally own results
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Experience with ICF pools, shotcrete or gunite, Italian quartz or premium pool finishes, pressure testing, equipment pads, or premium residential construction is especially valuable.

The Mindset Matters

Our environment is built around growth mindset, teamwork, continuous improvement, craftsmanship, and ownership of results. We will meet you with advanced training, sophisticated projects, talented teammates, and leadership development. You meet us with curiosity, work ethic, humility, teamwork, and accountability.

If you are excited to discover how good you - and the people you lead - can become, there is significant room to grow here.

Career Path

Senior Crew Manager -> Pool Construction / Hydraulics Technical Lead -> Field Supervisor -> Production Manager -> Construction Operations Leadership

Advancement does not have to mean leaving the craft. Technical mastery, teaching, and leadership can be a career path of their own.

Compensation

Target Total Compensation: $79,000-$100,000

This is a full-time, year-round position. Compensation includes guaranteed hourly base pay plus an annual performance bonus opportunity of up to 15% of base pay. Variable pay is included within the advertised total compensation range and is not guaranteed above that range. Exact compensation depends on experience, technical ability, craftsmanship, leadership capability, and demonstrated fit.

Ready to Find Your Next Level?

Bring the skills you have already earned. Bring your work ethic, curiosity, and willingness to lead. We will bring the fast-track training, advanced methodologies, exceptional projects, specialized teams, and opportunity to pursue mastery.

When you apply, tell us:

  • What's the most technically challenging project you've built or led?
  • What pool construction, plumbing, or hydraulic systems have you mastered?
