The Department of Music in the David R. Hayworth School of Arts and Design at High Point University invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Instructor of Trumpet position beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year.
Position Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Teach undergraduate applied trumpet lessons to music majors, minors, and non-majors
- Recruit and mentor trumpet students within the growing HPU music program
- Perform as Principal Trumpet in the High Point University Community Orchestra
- Collaborate with music faculty in performances, student recruitment, and artistic initiatives
- Participate in departmental events as appropriate
Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Trumpet Performance, Music Education, or related field
- Demonstrated excellence as a performer and teacher
- Ability to teach students with a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels
- Strong communication and collaborative skills
Preferred:
- Doctorate or equivalent professional experience
- College/university teaching experience
- Experience performing in orchestral, commercial, or chamber settings
- Evidence of successful student recruitment and studio growth
