Location: High Point Inpatient Campus - Section 35 Unit - Plymouth, MA
Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in psychology or related field approved by licensing/contracting required
Pay Range: $29-$34/hr for Bachelor's, $33-$39/hr for Master's, and $38-$44/hr for Independently Licensed (LMHC, LICSW, LMFT, LADC1)
Status: Part Time; Weekends

High Point has programs located throughout Southeastern Massachusetts, offering a full continuum of care for substance use and mental health treatment, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. Programs and services also assist survivors of abuse, violence, and families experiencing homelessness. High Point believes that everyone has inherent goodness, worth, and dignity. Our goal is to help individuals and families achieve personal change and improve their quality of life.

Substance Use Clinician Requirements

  • Must always present as courteous and professional;
  • Maintains and submits any current Licensure or Certifications necessary for the performance of the position;
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks;
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion;
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn, use and train HPAO Electronic Health Records (EHR);
  • Must have the ability to work with others in a cooperative and collaborative manner;
  • An understanding of the relationship between substance uses and mental health issues and/or self-help programs;
  • Understand and maintain therapeutic boundaries;
  • Reinforce rules in a respectful manner;
  • Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder and HIPAA Regulations;
  • TB/Flu and Covid19 Assessment;
  • Annual Completion of the HPAO crisis de-escalation programs;
  • CPR Certification; 
  • Successful completion of all trainings upon hire and annually as required.

Substance Use Clinician Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain assigned caseload;
  • Providing direct care to patients - including assessments, individual counseling, discharge and aftercare planning, treatment plans and updates, weekly progress notes, daily group facilitations, group note completion, and completion of bio-psychosocial assessments;
  • Making referrals when appropriate;
  • Responsible for each assigned patients' medical records which should be professional, complete and thorough with entries made in a timely manner;
  • Responsible for connecting patients with aftercare services prior to discharge and aiding the patient and their family in access services when appropriate;
  • Communicating/involving family in treatment at patients' request;
  • Attending and participating in all unit and facility meetings, case conferences, Treatment Team meetings, and mandatory trainings, as directed by the Clinical Director/Program Director;
  • Responsible for continued education in the field of substance use and related courses;
  • Always utilize standards precautions;
  • Demonstrates behaviors that recognize the rights of patients as defined by the patients' rights;
  • Responsible for contacting the insurance company for authorization, as needed;
  • Utilize walkie-talkie as campus responders;
  • Respond to Codes as necessary;
  • Completion of required documentation, including consents/releases, Group Notes, Progress Notes, Contacts Logs, Transition/Discharge Summaries;
  • Participate in MDT/Rounds Meetings;
  • Crisis intervention and screening for patients at risk, including ability to complete suicide and homicide risk assessments;
  • Ability to engage in verbal de-escalation and safe management of patient behaviors that respects the patient and is therapeutic;
  • Assist with completion of patient observation checks, 1:1 monitoring and milieu management as requested;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director, Program Director, or Site Director.

    Substance Use Clinician Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Level Clinician Qualifications (Clinician 2)
      • A bachelor's degree in psychology or related field approved by licensing/contracting;
      • Experience in human service field;
      • Either a minimum of 3 years supervised substance use counseling experience or has a recognized certification or licensure including 4,000 hours of clinically supervised counseling of individuals with substance use disorders, including at least 220 documented hours of supervision.
    • Master's Level Clinician Qualifications (Clinician 1)
      • A master's degree in one of the following disciplines or a closely related field; clinical psychology, education counseling, medicine, psychology, psychiatric nursing, rehabilitative counseling, or social work;
      • Minimum of one-year supervised substance uses and/or mental health disorder counseling experience preferred.
