What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr Payroll Accountant position at High Octane Distribution?
High Octane Distribution is growing, and we’re looking for an Sr Payroll Accountant who can help support the systems, processes, and people that keep our team moving forward.

What You’ll Do
- Calculate and process bi-weekly payroll ensuring commission, net pay, deductions and withholdings are calculated correctly.
- Prepare and post journal entries for payroll, payroll accruals and reconcile payroll related balance sheet accounts.
- Reconcile payroll and checking bank accounts.
- Maintain & optimize payroll platform and trouble shoot issues.
- Assist Controller on audits such as SUI and Workers Comp.
- Support employee onboarding and HR processes through Paylocity HRIS
- Assist with benefits administration, HR policies, and compliance documentation
- Cross train in AP and AR to do payroll expenses and fill in for vacations.
- Help coordinate internal projects and initiatives that support company operations
- Assist with reporting, tracking, and internal documentation to support leadership decisions
- Be part of a team that is motivated to help the company succeed
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- At least 2 years of direct payroll accounting experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Understanding of multi-state payroll regulations
- Experience working with HRIS and business software (Paylocity experience preferred)
- Experience assisting with software implementation or process improvements is a strong plus
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, positive, and solutions-oriented
- Ability to work on-site in our Canonsburg office Mon-Fri 8 to 4:30
