What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teachers position at High Meadow School?
High Meadow School, certified by the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS), is a vibrant, progressive learning community located in Stone Ridge, NY, offering nursery school through 8th Grade, after-school, and summer camps open to the community.
We are seeking substitute teachers - referred to as Guest Teachers at our school - to teach in our Nursery through 8th-grade classrooms during the 2026/2027 school year.
DETAILS:
- This is an on-call position to provide coverage when regular teaching staff are absent
- Classes are held outside in forest classrooms, the nature trail, the gardens as well as inside classrooms when weather is inclement (a love of nature is highly encouraged)
- Previous experience with children is preferred.
- Flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with other adults and students is essential
- High school diploma or GED required
- Backgrounds in varying educational philosophies are welcome; an open-mindedness and adaptability to learning our philosophy is all that's required.
- Background and fingerprint clearance are part of the hiring process.
