Shift: Days. 12 hour shift (6am-6pm). Rotating 2-2-3 shifts.
Purpose/Scope of Position
PLC Automation Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, programming, and improving PLC-controlled production equipment and facility systems. Supports plant operations through preventive maintenance, electrical repairs, automation upgrades, and equipment reliability improvements.
Responsibilities/Duties (inclusive of but not limited to):
- Troubleshoot and repair PLC, HMI, VFD, robotic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose equipment failures and restore production equipment quickly and safely.
- Install, wire, and maintain low/high voltage single-phase and three-phase systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Back up, modify, and maintain PLC programs and automation systems.
- Assist with equipment startups, testing, calibration, grounding, and commissioning.
- Perform preventive maintenance on automation and control systems.
- Recommend and implement equipment or process improvements.
- Work with operators and maintenance teams to identify and solve recurring issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Follow all safety, food safety, and sanitation requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing stairs, and use of hands.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in industrial environments.
Work Environment
Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery, noise, varying temperatures, heights, and outdoor conditions as needed. Required PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection, slip-resistant footwear, and other protective equipment as required.
Education/Training
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Electronics, Automation, or related field preferred.
- PLC certification preferred.
- State Electrical License preferred.
- 2 years of industrial maintenance, controls, or automation experience preferred.
- Experience with PLC systems, industrial controls, motors, sensors, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is a plus.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of conduit, wiring, and industrial electrical practices.
- Ability to use hand tools, meters, and precision measuring tools.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

- Able to work flexible hours when needed, including nights, weekends, or holidays.
