High Desert Medical Group is seeking a full time Medical Laboratory Technician to work in our Urgent Care. Under the direction of the Urgent Care Director, and in collaboration with the contracted CLS, the Medical Laboratory technician is responsible for conducting laboratory testing, analyzing samples, and reporting results to assist healthcare professionals in diagnosing and treating patients. The technician ensures accuracy and reliability in test results while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Specifics:
- Collect, process, and analyze biological samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) using laboratory equipment and techniques.
- Scheduled hours of 8:00am - 9:00am, varied days of the week with rotating weekends and holidays.
- Perform routine and specialized tests, including hematology, microbiology, chemistry, and immunology.
- Extensive working knowledge on aspects of testing done in-house including clinical significance, and is capable of communicating this knowledge to nurses, physicians, medical assistants, and lab personnel.
- General knowledge of frequently ordered reference lab tests including clinical significance and can provide helpful information to nurses, physicians, medical assistants, and lap personnel.
- Efficiently prioritize assigned specimens, assuring that specimen quality is acceptable for testing.
- Maintain specimens in a manner that retains specimen integrity for tests ordered.
- Prepare and test new reagents or controls and evaluate their usefulness based on standard criteria.
- Perform test calibrations and run Quality Control material at appropriate intervals.
- Determine calculated results utilizing testing data by means of manual or computerized procedures.
- Accurately enter results of testing. Check the computer review reports to monitor accurate reporting of laboratory results.
- Evaluate the acceptability of routine analysis prior to releasing patient reports. Take appropriate action in response to critical values or unusual or unexpected results, and document actions taken.
- Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and/or calibration of laboratory equipment and properly documenting actions taken based on approved schedule.
- Evaluate the results of instrumental performance checks. Perform linearity, accuracy, and precision checks as required.
- Monitor and maintain a consistent supply of reagents and consumables.
- Maintain a safe and neat work area.
- Maintain a professional growth and development through continuing education activities.
- Follow established company and department policies and procedures. Follow the guidelines for safety, environmental, and infection control.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
- Attend seminars to update knowledge of regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $25.38 - 35.01/hr, non-exempt; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

- Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology or a related field.
- Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical/clinical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
